Skills-a-Plenty Make Feagin a Worthy Prospect
On film, Richard Feagin Jr. certainly comes across as a prospect with the right combination of raw basketball skills that could help separate him from the pack—as long as he continues to develop and gain confidence.
Feagin is a serious threat behind the arc, possessing a deadly accurate quick-release shot that he can drain from seemingly anywhere on the court and in any manner: catch and shoot, step and shoot or dribble and shoot. The quick-footed Southfield Christian guard can also blow by a defender and finish at the hoop. That is if he doesn’t—first—find the open man with one of his spectacular pinpoint passes. An added bonus is that he is a tireless defender, oftentimes a disruptive force with his timely steals, rebounds and overall court awareness.
A work in progress, Feagin came on strong as the season progressed, truly shining in post season play where he averaged 17 points per game while helping the Eagles win the 2014/2015 Michigan Independent Athletic Conference (MIAC) championship and a Class C District title. His abilities and efforts didn’t go unnoticed: Feagin was selected 1st Team All MIAC for the 2014/2015 season.
The 2015/2016 season should bring more accolades for Feagin and his teammates as long as the desire, dedication and commitment are there. If so the exciting Eagle SG/PG will prove to be a truly worthy guard prospect from the class of 2016.
